Ditty Bag
This ditty bag represents the culmination of my first year of learning leather craftsmanship. It is a cylindrical design piece that stands out for its technical complexity, incorporating piping that defines its structure and a vertical zipper that allows full access to the interior. A project where precision stitching and volume management were the true protagonists.
A ditty bag is a bag used by sailors to carry their belongings during long sea voyages. They were generally cylindrical, vertical bags made of canvas or leather, like this one.
Mine is inspired by Gary Waidson's design, whose idea it was to include the vertical zipper and the piping on the edges. Some differences are the rigidity or the interior pockets, for example.
It was a very long and fun project, with many problems that arose and had to be solved on the fly, but I am very happy with the result.
