Ditty Bag

The final project of my first year in leatherwork class.

A ditty bag is a bag used by sailors to carry their belongings during long voyages. They were usually made of canvas or leather, round and upright, like this one.

Mine was inspired by Gary Waidson's design, and he came up with the idea of the vertical zipper and the piping on the edges. Some differences are the stiffness or the interior pockets, for example.

It was a very long and fun project, with lots of problems that arose and had to be solved along the way, but I am very happy with the result.
